My collection of book boyfriends

We all have them, those books that you get so wrapped up in you want to jump into the pages with the characters.

I love books, and have often lost a full day just sitting with my kindle. Some of the books have characters you simply can’t forget, and I’m not ashamed to say that the ones that seem to hold in my memory are the men!

So here are some of my top book boyfriends and who I’ve imagined them to be!

Jesse Ward from This Man (Jodi Ellen Malpas)
Jesse is a force to be reckoned with in this series and he’s one hell of an alpha. Jessie seems to be the perfect fit for Mr Ward. Jessie Pavelka

Lucien Knight from Knight and Play (Kitty French)
This story had me from the moment that Sophie sealed her application with a kiss! Lucien swept me off my feet and Alexander Skasguard is the man to play the part of Kitty’s Viking sex god.f1688f97a7ffb4e5f5f6cbf70b0324ee

Rhage / Hollywood from the Black Dagger Brotherhood (J.R.Ward)
This series has a whole host of potential book boyfriends, but Rhage is my favourite. He’s a big softie under all that muscle, brute strength, not to mention his ‘beast’ side. I’d happily supply him with Tootsie Pops!! There isn’t anyone else I picture when I read Rhage. Thor.

Hemsworth

Griffin Fiske – The Original Sinners (Tiffany Reisz)
Boy oh boy! This series is one of my favourites and I love Griffin. He’s sexy, dominant but the way he takes care of Michael… Put some tattoos and a kilt on Nick and there you have him! Griffin in all of his gorgeous glory!

Simon Weston – Masters and Mercenaries (Lexi Blake)
Now, again, this series has some top contenders for who to could hit my book boyfriend list. I love Big Tag, but I’m just not up for fighting Charlotte for him! So the next Dom for me is Simon Weston. Dreamy, loyal, protective and patient. He’s British and never without a suit. *Sigh*!
Winchester

Master Z – Master of the Shadowlands (Cherise Sinclair)
This is a wonderful series, but it wouldn’t be the same without Master Z. You can’t help but swoon at his superior alpha and dominant nature and downright wonderfulness! Mr Gandy would play him soooo well.

Sebastian York and Lucas Clark – The Evermore Series (Rachel De Lune)

I’m biased! But hey. Seb has been in my life for a good few years now but he was cast pretty early on. Seb has amazing eyes—an aquamarine that can be blue, clear or green. It’s the stone on my wedding band so is a special significance to me. Seb

Ian Somerhalder (Source)

Seb is my first hero I’ve written and so will always hold a place in my heart. He’s the good Dom. The considerate Dom who will worship you as much as he’ll make you scream his name.
Lucas, or Luke, is my new alpha and he’s a little rougher than Seb. A little more Dominant. You’ll get to meet him in the third book of my series. And yes, I have cast him.

Meet Charlotte E Hart and Mr White

One thing that has struck me since stepping into the world of writing, is how supportive other authors are. Charlotte is one of those authors who champions others and I’m very pleased to call a friend. I got to ask her some fun questions a few weeks ago, to celebrate the imminent release of her latest book, Absorbing White.

12190001_809984912446220_7530183147174245212_n

Firstly, a few questions to get to know Charlotte…

Favourite book?

CEH: Oh Lordy. I’ve been asked this question so many times and the simple answer is I haven’t got one, currently. There are far too many. However, if I was to name something that inspired me, or made me really believe in reading and the virtues of it, it would be The Silver Brumby Series by Elyne Mitchell. They were the first real books I chose and read all on my own when I was a child, and I still love them today.

Favourite drink?

CEH: Gin. Oh, do you mean every day? Coffee, I meant coffee. As if I’d drink Gin daily *winks

Your perfect weekend getaway?

CEH: I love city breaks. I’m not a huge fan of idling anywhere unless it involves a bustling street and coffee. If I could get to New York every weekend I would. There’s nothing quite like noise to make my brain a little clearer.

The White Trilogy books to-date have been dark and sexy with a lot going on. Way past the average boy meets girl, boy seduces girl, erotic tale. Did you plan the full story when you started writing or did it develop as you wrote?

CEH: No, no clue at all. It just came to some degree. I did know it would be complex because Mr White is anything but easy, and I wanted to write something people would have to get involved in, but I didn’t expect it to be quite so deep I suppose. I guess my love of Agatha Christie and Dan Brown crept in on me and made me write something other than just an erotic novel.

I get the feeling we haven’t seen all of Mr White’s dark side yet! What have you got in store for book 3, Absorbing White?

CEH: He really is a pain in the, well, you know…. His complexities make him a difficult man to love, and his past makes it even more difficult for Beth to accept him. But, in reality, he’s not been a very nice man, has he? And I can promise you he continues to not be very nice, depending on your point of view. The main issue is his constant pull back to the dark, the place he feels no moral restriction, his comfort zone really. His colours are all out there already, it just all depends on who steers his conscience most, and what positons he’s put in to challenge that conscience. After all, it’s the situations that determine what our behaviour needs to be, isn’t it? And as you said, his dark side is always there waiting for use.

What’s been your biggest influence when writing Beth and Alex?

CEH: Past experiences. Both characters hold an element of me inside them to some degree, the light and the dark so to speak. Their journey together comes from two completely differing standpoints, and as they try to find their way towards each other I feel myself writing past experiences into them, the hurdles, the give and take, the acceptance of another opinion. I think we all find something of ourselves in a character, that’s how they find us.

Who’s POV is easier to write? I know that Alex is often ‘talking to you’ but what about Beth or Conner?

CEH: Conner, who couldn’t write Conner? He’s an utter gent isn’t he? A sweety in bad boy clothing. He’s easy to write because he’s the decent one, the honest, reliable big brother type. Beth comes reasonably easy too, she’s such a strong girl and getting stronger by the day. I love that she constantly wants to prove that Alex is decent under all that exterior, that he is worthy of being loved. And I always look forward to Mr Van Der Braacks scenes, he’s where all the naughtiness flows from. I simply can’t help myself with him. However, if I’m really honest, it’s Alex I love writing. He flows out of me and pours onto the page. All his deviances, his nastiness, his inner loathing, it all manifests itself somehow and keeps me from falling into sappy happy ever afters. Which I generally don’t enjoy too much. Not that I’m saying anything there!

Alex isn’t your typical fantasy hero boyfriend. He’s a very very bad boy. What is it about the bad boy persona that holds so much appeal for us?

CEH: You want a dull man? Or woman for that matter?

We all want something that’s a little bit off the leash really, don’t we? It’s in our human nature to move on, find the stronger, braver, bigger boy, and accept the animal inside him. Perhaps challenge ourselves with the unattainable and relish our self-importance when we get them. The problem is that in this world we live in we have now overridden that natural human instinct to seek that which is strongest, we simply no longer need too. We have become happy to relax in the confines of suburban bliss and tolerate the inadequacies of our partners because we no longer hunt, fish, or maybe even kill to survive. We have adapted, evolved.

Unfortunately with this evolution of human behaviour comes drudgery and boredom, possibly even compliancy, and definitely the thought “Is this it?”.

Harsh, isn’t it? But mostly true, I think.

Books, and the fantasies within them, give us a chance to disregard reality. They give us an opportunity to believe we could have that very bad man and tame them to some degree without care to the consequence of our morals or hearts. That there’s a place where going back to our base instincts, and revelling in them, is okay, it’s safe, and the truth is it won’t damage our real life that way, will it?

Lessons to learn, it think.

What has been your favourite scene in the first two books? Either to write or to read?

CEH: Oh wow. Can I say all of it? Probably not. Ermm…

I adored writing the business lunch in Seeing White where Beth meets him for the first time, the outcome of that meeting was so typically Beth and it really made me giggle. The time at the club where Belle and Beth get drunk and try their hand at pole dancing had me crying with laughter in Feeling White, of course I then ruined it with something horrible, but then that’s me, sorry. I also loved writing the highly violent scene in Feeling White where Alex goes back to his old lifestyle for her. I can’t say anything else without giving that away, but writing that scene actually felt like I was there with him, like I could smell it and touch the ground beneath his feet, rub my hands in the soil and feel the lack of emotion involved in such a thing. It made me feel very close to actually being him.

And of course the sex, all of the sex, I love writing their differing POV’s during those scenes.

The trilogy is nearly complete with Absorbing White releasing soon. Will this tie up all of those sub-plots you’ve been building over the last instalments?

CEH: Ermm…. You’ve asked me this before. (I have! I may have quizzed her on the plot as well!)

From the moment I realised this was going to be a trilogy I always intended to tie up all sub plots. And for a while I stayed true to that. However there are parts of the three books that contain certain elements of the secondary characters lives, certain things that I simply can’t tie up in these three books. So I suppose I’ll have to write more books about those characters and what the future, and past, holds/held for them.

As far as the main plots go, yes, I will defiantly tie those in together and leave most questions answered. I’d hate to make it that easy though, so you never know what I might drop in at the last minute, or rather what he might drop in.

I truly believe that when you write such complex characters and lives you can’t just close the door on them, it’s unfair, and quite a disturbing thought really. I also doubt Mr White will ever stop talking to me regardless of how loud Mr Van Der Braack shouts, and I’d hate him too to be honest, I have too much love for him to let him go any time soon.

Any sneaky bits of Absorbing White you want to share?

CEH: Nope. Sorry, not sorry. Good job you’re one of my harlots, isn’t it? *winks.

Author Interview for More: The Evermore Series (Book 1)

The lovely Stephy from Troll River Publications asked me a few questions to help get to know more about my new release. I hope you enjoy!

  1. You seemed to have been able to reach into the minds of unsatisfied married women everywhere. What was your inspiration for Izzy, Seb and “More”?

I love reading, especially books in the erotic romance genre. I often get swept up in the fantasy of what these romances portray and I love the escapism that they provide me. However, I wanted to feel like these fantasies, these stories, could happen.

Unfortunately, adultery, divorce or un-happy relationships are a common aspect of life. If you haven’t been effected directly by it, the likelihood is, you know someone who has. While I don’t condone Izzy’s actions in the book (I’d like to say I am happily married!), I think there are elements that are very relatable to women everywhere.

We’ve all fantasied over the tall, dark and handsome (please add your own physical traits to suit) stranger, whisking us off our feet and showering us with love and affection. That remains in my story. It’s just a little more real.

I was also sure that I wanted Izzy and Seb to have to fight. That it wouldn’t be an easy relationship and that simple and often small things could unsettle them, again, much like real life.

More_Teaser 4

  1. Will there be a sequel?

Oh yes! I’m finishing it off at the moment. Izzy and Seb’s journey isn’t over yet.

  1. What are you writing after that?

Well, there are a few projects underway but I will be continuing with The Evermore Series. Jess will be getting her story soon. In fact, I’m really excited to get to her. I had only originally planned to write Izzy and Seb. Then one evening, stuck in traffic, Jess’ whole romance came to me. I had to dictate it into a voice memo on my phone as I didn’t want to forget it.

  1. What kind of Dom is Seb?

Seb has a line in More, where he tells Izzy that he considers himself a considerate Dom. For me, I wanted him to have authority but also have a likeable side. Not too intimidating. He’s also got his own flaws. One thing about this story that I wanted to come through was that the characters aren’t perfect. I wanted it to feel grounded in real life. A Dom who has struggled to find his perfect match, in and out of the bedroom. That’s how i’ve pictured Seb. Confident and successful, but with something missing in his life.

It’s all part of the fantasy of it. That there is this amazing man out there ready to swoop in and rescue you and offer you everything you’ve ever dreamed of!

More_Teaser 2

  1. What traits do you think are needed for a relationship to work?

Love, understanding and communication. Oh and laughter! We see Izzy struggle in her relationship and a lot of that can be put down to her issues with communication. Sometimes it can be hard. Relationships aren’t easy but those four things will certainly help.

More_Teaser 3

  1. What would you say to all those on Ashley-Madison?

I find it quite amusing that there’s even a dating sight for married people. ‘Life is short. Have an affair.’ Really?? If you’re that un-happy in your marriage, then talk to your partner and try to sort it out. An affair isn’t going to be your answer.

And if your name was leaked, serves you right!

Miserable and dejected in her marriage, Isabel Fields encounters a stranger in a bar promising an opportunity to change her life. Nonetheless, she must make a decision she thought was reserved for other women.

Sexual dominant, Sebastian York, specializes in igniting passion in his lovers, but women always come and go, and he’s never had a woman to call his own.

Leading Izzy, a natural submissive, on a journey of sexual awakening, their casual arrangement soon grows too confining. Seb satisfies everything Izzy has craved and she instinctively bows to his dominant personality, fulfilling his every desire.

Their casual arrangement ignites Isabel’s long-buried passion and touches her heart, but Izzy struggles with the emotional turmoil that plagues her soul.

Sacrifices will have to be made by both, putting their love to the test. Izzy stands to lose the marriage she dedicated years of her life to, but has a chance to gain a relationship she’s always longed for. All depends on whether Sebastian proves to be the love of Izzy’s life, or leaves her wanting more…

My first author interview

Stephy from Troll River Publications, my publisher (little happy dance) asked me a few questions for her newsletter. I thought I could share them with you here.

1435615091

TRP: How would publishing this book change your life? (What are your goals as an author?)
RDL: My goals seem to keep changing! Number one was to write the book. Then it was to share it, quickly followed by publishing it.
Today, I want to publish my first novel, finish the edits of book two and start the draft of book three. I can remember a time when I thought that writing was just something I did to escape. I told a friend that I could never see myself as a full time writer. Now, I’d like to be a part time writer or even full time! I reserve the right to change my goals when the next book is released!

TRP: Have you been published before?
RDL: Nope! This is my first dance and I’m very pleased that TRP is my partner.

TRP: What about Troll River Publishing made you want to sign a contract?
RDL: When I first started scribbling down my story, I never intended to share it, yet alone have it published! A few words of encouragement and a very lucky meeting over social media led my manuscript to Stephy and my horizon changed.
The fact that Stephy wanted me to self-publish was a shock when we first started talking. She told me that I could absolutely do it on my own and that I should. Her abundance of support and positivity towards me was fantastic and a huge boost for little old me, sat in the UK wondering what I should do next with this story. When we started getting down to details I realized that she would do all the ‘stuff’ I was hugely daunted by and didn’t have a clue about. If I was going to ‘do this’ and publish my words, I wanted it to be the best I could make it. After talking with Stephy, I knew that I’d be able to do a 100 times better with her as my publisher than on my own. That’s why I signed.

TRP: What have you enjoyed on your journey to publish your work?
RDL: An unexpected pleasure along this journey has been seeing my characters develop and come to life on the page. Izzy started off as this little voice in my head and before I knew it she was real to me. My escapism of writing gave Izzy her own escape and chance of happiness.
Although there is some significant turmoil for my characters, love is at the bottom of it. I’m a sucker for a romance story and lost count of the characters that have captured my heart over the years. Now, I have my own characters and hope they can capture a few hearts on the way.

Izzy Seb

(Izzy and Seb from my Pinterest inspiration boards)

Something that has been instrumental in getting me to the publishing stage is the support and friendship offered by my critique partners. They have been a lifeline that I am thankful for everyday. Hugs to you girls!

TRP: What has been the greatest challenge in the journey of writing and publishing?
RDL: Challenges… oh there have been a few! I still remember the first time I sent my book baby out to a fellow TRP author (and now great friend) to give it a read. I’d read her short story and wrote a review and she asked me to read and review her first novel.  I spent the whole morning working up the courage to ask her to read my manuscript. Of course, as wonderful as she is, she did. That was a huge step for me.

After the initial panic of sharing, having the words edited and learning just how much work goes into turning your first draft manuscript into a book worthy of publishing has been a big and wonderful challenge. I used to think writing a book was a solitary thing. It was my escapism. But turning those words into a beautiful story takes effort from a lot of other people, and I thank everyone who has helped me on my journey. It’s been the most exciting, demanding and daunting time of my life, but I am super proud that I’ve come out the other side (just!).

July Hot Reads

This month is full of some great new releases that I’m so excited about, I wanted to share them with you!

Kris Michaels, Elizabeth SaFleur and H.A Robinson are all celebrating their book babies in July. A range of romances sure to get your hearts beating and pulses rising. I asked each author two quick questions to help you get to know them; If they could only read one author for the rest of their life, who would it be? And, what their favourite line from their book is.

I hope you enjoy these little glimpses and the great teasers they are sharing!

Jacob – The Kings of Guardian Book 1 by Kris Michaels

Jacob

Victoria Marshall didn’t cooperate by dying in the Afghani hell-hole like the CIA expected. Defying all probability, a privately-funded black ops group led by a handsome, sexy-as-sin southerner pulled her out of the warlord’s prison cell and brought her home. Even half out of her mind with pain Tori knew this man was special. She made a date with the commander to meet one year later at a restaurant of his choice. Keeping that date was the best thing she ever did.

Jacob King found little physically attractive about the woman he saved from the warlord’s camp, though it was hard to see what lay under the filth and suppurating wounds she suffered from countless beatings. He admired her brave humor in the face of her agonizing injuries. This kind of tough-minded woman was someone he’d like to know as a friend. He never expected the leggy, blond bomb-shell in the red dress who showed up for their date.

But then he never expected she would save his life, either. In a world of shadows, smoke, and dangerous covert missions, where people routinely vanish and living one more day was never a given, Tori and Jacob fight to build their happily ever after.

* * *

KM – Only one author for the rest of my life? Oh girl, that would be hell on earth! I don’t know that I could narrow it to one, but if I had three it would be J,R. Ward, Kindle Alexander and Robyn Carr.

KM – My favorite line from G1? Wow…I think it would be the last line of this teaser. Haven’t we all wanted to be bold enough to say something like this? I love Tori’s spunk. The woman is strong willed and knows what she wants.

“Tori looked through her lashes at him for a moment before lowering her eyes to the table. The glance radiated sexual innuendo. “And, I think sex with you could be phenomenal.”

Excerpt –
“This is so good! I’m impressed that you own part of this place.”

Jacob reached for his wine glass. “I can’t take any credit for this. Justin is the mastermind behind the businesses. My brothers and I gave him some startup money and he has bankrolled it into four extremely profitable businesses. He has a way with people and money.”

Tori took the last bite of her steak and measured him carefully as she chewed. Lifting her finger she pointed at him. “You know, you have quite a way with people, too.”

Jacob chuffed air out of his lungs and shook his head. “Not true. I’m close to my family and my team. I almost never associate with anyone outside that realm.”

“Am I an exception?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“It is simple and complicated. When you should’ve been comatose or out of you mind with pain, you were cracking jokes and carrying a conversation. I don’t usually mix my business endeavors and my personal life, but you were unique and interesting. I thought I would enjoy knowing you as a friend.”

Tori cocked her head. “A friend? Really? That’s…interesting.”

“Why did you come back for the date? You must have had to travel to get here if home is Small Town, U.S.A.”

She picked up the wine glass and once again swirled the deep red liquid before she responded. “Oh, I guess I had several reasons.”

She up-ended the glass and drained the last of the vintage. After placing the crystal on the table with excessive care, she rested her chin on her hands. “I came back because you saved my life; because you were the only thing that kept me from going insane from the pain that night; because I thought I would enjoy knowing you, and…”

“And?”

Tori looked through her lashes at him for a moment before lowering her eyes to the table. The glance radiated sexual innuendo. “And, I think sex with you could be phenomenal.”

Max Colton’s Road to Wonderland by H.A. RobinsonMCRTW.HAR.Large (1)

Growing up with certain expectations and your entire life mapped out for you is never easy, but when the bar is set impossibly high, most would give up.

Not Max Colton.

Even as a child, his father is unrelenting. Discipline, rules and rigid control are all he knows. Nothing Max does is good enough, and no matter how hard he works, approval and recognition are always just out of reach.

From boarding school to university, Max gets a glimpse of the freedom he’s always been denied, and learns unexpected things about himself along the way. When he somehow finds himself thrust back under his father’s iron rod of control, that freedom proves harder to let go of than he anticipated and he finds himself caught in a balancing act between his lifelong battle for his father’s approval and living out his own hopes and dreams.

With loves found and lost and his friends at his side, Max has to navigate through the world one step at a time. People aren’t always as they seem, and every stone unturned reveals a new challenge, bringing him closer to a future that has always seemed elusive and uncertain.

A future that holds success, freedom and love he never expected to have.

A future that will offer loyal friends and a home that isn’t confined to a building.

A future that leads him to Wonderland.

H.A.R – My favourite author is JM Darhower.  Her books are ones I go back to over and over and they never fail to give me feels. She writes great characters with so much emotion. Her books make me laugh and cry in equal measure and I won’t stop until everybody I know has read them.

H.A.R – “Perhaps it’s impossible to almost kill somebody and not come away feeling a little bit like you’ve known them your whole life.”

Max’s story is the 4th in the Road to Wonderland series but can be read as a stand alone.

Untouchable – Elite Doms of Washington Book 2 by Elizabeth SaFleur

Untouchable

Wealthy Washington, D.C. corporate attorney and seasoned Dominant, Carson Drake is the master of the romantic pre-emptive strike. One weekend is all he needs or wants, and every relationship is over before it begins.

But London Chantelle, his company’s public relations “princess,” intrigues and provokes the protective alpha male in him. Outside the office, their unexpected meeting at a local BDSM club presents the opportunity to do what he’s always wanted—earn her submission. He proposes a unique weekend of sensual pleasure. Though damaged from her history and mistrustful of men, London agrees to forty-eight hours with Carson, anticipating she could finally put her unwanted, darker longings to rest.

The passionate weekend proves beyond what either expected and they quickly discover how perfect they could be together. But London’s long-buried secrets and a blackmailing co-worker interrupt their weekend of romantic exploration. Carson calls on the powerful and secret Tribunal organization for support. But soon the greatest threat to Carson and London’s relationship is revealed—their own assumptions about love.

* * *

I’ve hosted Elizabeth here on my blog before. She’s a wonderful author and has been a great support for me. We’ve talked books and authors before on social media so I guessed what she’d come back with for my first question…I wasn’t wrong!

ES – Joey W. Hill

ES – Two lines actually!  “What will happen if I say yes?” ~London
“What you want. What you’ve probably always wanted.” ~Carson

Excerpt:

The loud rasp of leather yanked through Carson’s belt loops sent her attention to his torso.

“What are you doing?” London’s panicked gaze shot to his face.

“I don’t have a collar on me.”

“I am wholly disinterested in being collared.”

“One weekend, London.” He grasped one of her hips with his free hand. “If you’re

disappointed at any time, you can walk. I’ll never speak of it again. Our work together will go unaffected. No one—and I mean no one—but us will know.”

“Would you put that in writing?” Her eyes filled with mischief.

Priceless. London lured him toward a lightning storm. He could play. Hell, nothing appealed

in the moment more than a weekend playing with London. Yes, this is what he wanted. Now he needed to know if she was willing.

“I’ll do one better.” He snaked the belt around her waist until the leather rested against her hips.

“I’m not a notch on a belt.”

“You could never be a notch, London Chantelle. You’re the whole belt, sugar.”

Her face softened, and the playfulness in her eyes died. He recognized the deliberation behind them, the wonder if she’d be safe, here and at work. London needn’t have worried. She might get scared, but mutual satisfaction was the only way his brand of sexual fulfillment worked.

“Say yes or no.” He pressed his torso to her corseted body, the last space between her body and his obliterated. “But say yes.”

“What will happen if I say yes?”

“What you want. What you’ve probably always wanted.” Her eyes misted with a surprising vulnerability.

“Yes.”

London or New York – Louise Bay takes us to both

Louise Bay was a new author to me a few months ago, but her book cover and title, plus the comments and reviews had me downloading the first in her Empire State series.
A snip of my Goodreads review for A Week In New York to wet your appetite!
A Week in New York_final
A week in New York. Sounds perfect for me and throw in ‘Sex God’ Ethan Scott and I wouldn’t want to leave either.
I loved Anna – she was sure and confident of her own rules as well as being sassy and sexy. This seemed to simply increase the chemistry between her and Ethan. And there was a whole lot of chemistry!!! HOT HOT HOT.
Both points of view really helped the story line, and although there weren’t any cliffhangers or skeletons waiting to pop out, it kept you turning the pages to see how the first in this trilogy unfolded.
I certainly wanted to read more of Ethan and Anna and couldn’t wait for the next instalments. Now, as I don’t want to spoil the story, I have been lucky enough to have Louise answer a few questions I posted to her! All Ethan or book related of course…
NYIM7
1. What part of Ethan’ character did you enjoy writing the most?
I loved writing Ethan because he is generally so clear about what he wants. I suppose I like his interactions with his sister Jessica in particular. You discover things about him that otherwise you’d never know!
2. Do you ever disagree with where your characters wanted you to take them during the story?
Not with the Empire State Series but with the new series I’m writing, the second book has turned out very differently to how I was expecting. The characters very much drive my writing and as much as I plan, they tend to take over!
3. Did you have the Empire State series in mind when you were writing Faithful and Hopeful?
I knew I wanted to do something with Anna at the end of Faithful but I wasn’t sure what. The story came to me while I was writing the last third of Hopeful. I was having to push it to the back of my brain and it was desperate to get out!
And how do your stories come to you?
In all different ways. Each book is different. With the Empire State Series, I wanted to do a story with Anna (who first appeared in Faithful) and I wanted a chunk of it to take place in New York – I love the city and although I used to go every year, I’ve not been for a couple of years so I thought it would be fun to revisit it in a book. So I kind of meshed those things together.
With Faithful, it was much more personal, the first scenes are based on real life events – although there is a huge amount of artistic licence!
Hopeful is a retelling of my favorite book – Jane Austen’s Persuasion. I’d wanted to do that since I started writing Faithful. I’m not sure I would have written a second book if I hadn’t felt like telling that story in a modern context was unfinished business.
With my new Lightning Series, I started with the female character and things grew around her.
4. I’m a sucker for a Happy Ever After. Did you ever think they might not get there?
Not Anna and Ethan, they were made for each other!
5. If you could choose anywhere,  where would you like to go on a date with Ethan in each city- London and New York?
There are not many places I wouldn’t go on a date with Ethan Scott. Anywhere would be just fine!
I think what Ethan arranges for Anna and himself for New Year is pretty close to perfect. I had so many ideas on what that evening would be like! There’s too much to do in New York!
In London, maybe I’d cook for him at my place?!

A little bit about Louise…

I write sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind I like to read. My books Faithful and Hopeful are stand-alone novels although there are some overlapping characters. The Empire State Series of novellas starts with A Week in New York.

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, I love all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so I’ll settle for books and films.

I love the rain, the West Wing, London, days when you don’t have to wear make-up, being alone, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

Hearing from readers is the best thing in the world so get in touch!
